What is Mpesa?

How do i register for Mpesa?

Mpesa registration is absolutely free and an easy process.To register,you require to avail yourself at an Mpesa agent outlet with your Safaricom SIM card and a valid identification document.The identification document can be either a Kenyan national ID,a valid Kenyan or foreign passport, a Kenyan military ID or a Kenyan foreigner certificate.Once you have these two follow this process.

What is the Mpesa minimum withdrawal amount?

The minimum withdrawal amount on Mpesa is Ksh.50.

What is the Mpesa maximum withdrawal amount?

The maximum amount of money you can withdraw on Mpesa is Ksh.300,000.You will however have to withdraw twice to withdraw that amount as the maximum daily limit per transaction is Ksh.150,000.This is up from Ksh.70,000 which was the maximum amount per transaction since the new Mpesa rates of July 2018.

What is the maximum Mpesa daily transaction limit?

The maximum daily transaction limit on Mpesa is Ksh.300,000.This is also up from Ksh.140,000 which was the previous daily limit provided in the Mpesa charges and rates of July 2018.

Other key points to note about the new Mpesa rates.

  • You cannot deposit directly into another Mpesa user’s account at an Mpesa agent outlet.
  • Making a deposit at an Mpesa agent outlet has no charges at all(FREE).
  • Sending any amount between Ksh.1-1,000 to another Mpesa user is FREE.
  • Withdrawing any amount between Ksh.50-100 costs Ksh.10.
  • Withdrawing any amount between Ksh.101-500 costs Ksh.27.
  • Withdrawing any amount between Ksh.501-1000 costs Ksh.28.
  • Withdrawing any amount between Ksh.35,001-50,000 will cost you Ksh.270.
  • Withdrawing any amount between Ksh.50,001-150,000 will cost you Ksh.300.
  • For you to use Mpesa for transfer or withdrawal, your Safaricom line and Mpesa account must be active.
