Why Kajiado Environment Court Ruling Is Win to Residents

The residents of Kimana village in Kajiado county are elated after the court dismissed KiliAvo Farms application review on its revoked license by NEMA.

Kajiado Environment and Lands Court on Wednesday, May 15, dismissed an application review by KiliAvo Limited after NEMA revoked its license. The company wanted to plant avocado trees and vegetables, which supposedly consume a lot of water, thus posing a threat to the Amboseli National Park. The residents said Ngong Vegetable Limited is also operating without compliance and should be closed down.

The Amboseli Landowners Conservancies Association (ALOCA) has welcomed the decision by the Kajiado Environment and Lands Court (ELC) to dismiss an application review revoking KiliAvo Fresh Limited’s license to farm vegetables including avocados in the Kimana area of Amboseli.
